All participants must have health insurance that complies with requirements of the U.S. Department of State for the duration of their J-1 programs. CICD can arrange this for you, or you can purchase it privately in conjunction with CICD.

To satisfy the minimum requirements of the Department of State, your insurance coverage must:

1. Provide medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness.
2. Provide, at a minimum, up to 50,000 U.S. dollars in case of medical evacuation.
3. Provide, at a minimum, up to 25,000 U.S. dollars in case of repatriation of remains.
4. Have a deductible that does not exceed 500 U.S. dollars per accident or sickness.
