  The CICD International Trainee Program

As a U.S. Department of State-designated sponsor of trainees on the J-1 Visa Program, CICD enables students and aspiring professionals from around the world to embark on challenging training opportunities at leading American companies. Every year these training positions open doors to an exchange of expertise, business connections, and ideas that is beneficial to everyone involved.

International trainees learn about American business practices, acquire professional know-how in their field of specialization, hone their cross-cultural skills, improve their command of English, and gain valuable insights and knowledge about American society and culture. For many, participation in the J-1 Visa Program is a crucial stepping stone toward an exciting international career in an increasingly globalized economy.

American host companies value the enthusiasm, professionalism, and new perspectives that international trainees bring to their business. Hosting bright, motivated, and multilingual trainees from abroad provides companies with opportunities for developing the business connections and cross-cultural competence that are essential for successful international cooperation and access to foreign markets.

The CICD International Trainee Program includes:
  • the DS-2019 Form (previously IAP-66) required to apply for the J-1 Visa

  • orientation as well as visa application tips and materials for the trainee

  • assistance to the host company in developing a training program that fulfills U.S. Department of State requirements and matches the education and experience of the trainee

  • screening of the trainee on the basis of his or her previous experience, education, and command of English

  • contracts between the trainee, the host company, and CICD

  • important information about the J-1 Visa Program for the trainee and his or her supervisor

  • monitoring of the training from start to finish through periodic correspondence and evaluations

  • advice to the trainee and the host company in any matters pertaining to the training

  • coordination of the trainee's health insurance for his or her stay in the U.S.

  • 24-hour emergency phone number
