  Available J-1 Trainee/ Internship Position - Chemical / Biomolecular Engineering

Start Date(s): Summer 2010 or later
Hours: 40 hours/week
Compensation: unpaid
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Training Duration: 6 months or longer


Summary:
Project: Engineering stem cells towards therapeutic applications

Location: Boston is the capital and largest city of Massachusetts and one of the oldest cities in the United States. With many colleges and universities within the city and surrounding area, Boston is a center of higher education and a center for medicine. The city's economy is also based on research, electronics, engineering, finance, and technology-principally biotechnology.


Training/Internship Duties and Activities:
  • Stem cell culture and characterization
  • Use of fluorescent microscopy, flow cytometry, flow chamber assay and other advanced tools to characterize and study stem cells
  • Attending high-level conferences, seminars, and social activities at Harvard/MIT community
  • Interacting with leading doctors and testing platforms in relevant animal models
  • Attending and presenting at weekly group meeting

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing or have received a degree within the past 12 months in chemistry/molecular biology at a university outside of the U.S.
  • Motivation and interest in making a difference
  • Steep learning curve
  • Have desire to become a leader in the field
