

The program begins with a 4-week Intensive language course in Tokyo with 2 cooking lessons per week. Accommodations will be with a host family or at a shared house. After this introduction to Japanese language, culture, and cuisine, program participants will intern for 8 weeks at a restaurant located on Sado Island. The island is well known for its unique cuisine and heritage. Internships are unpaid and take place 4 days a week, 4-8 hours a day. Accommodations on Sado Island will be at a rental apartment or at Koninji Temple.
Program Eligibility
Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen, culinary student or recent graduate, aged 18 to 35, with a minimum of 12 months of education in the field. Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Other nationalities may apply.

Email your resume, cover letter, copy of passport, proof of vaccination, 2 letters of recommendation to ip@cicdgo.com. CICD will organize a Zoom meeting with our Japanese partner. Registration Deadline: February 28, 2022, for the 2022 sessions (April and July), and February 28, 2023, for the 2023 sessions (April and July).
