The program begins with a 2- or 4-week language course in Tokyo at a language school that was selected as the best language school in the world in 2016. The school is one of the only two IALC accredited schools in Japan. After this introduction to Japanese language and culture and an orientation session organized by our partner to prepare for the internship, participants will be placed in a hotel, resort, or restaurant in Japan for 8 to 10 weeks in a department corresponding to the participant’s experience. The internship in Japan is unpaid. Compensation may be available depending on your skills and work once in Japan. Housing (shared apartment in Tokyo), food, and local transportation are not included in the total program cost. We recommend a budget of at least JPY 150,000 per month (~US$1,325) to cover those expenses. Upon request, CICD’s partner will help secure housing when necessary.
US citizens aged 18 to 35 only. Must be a Culinary/Pastry or Hospitality student or recent graduate (Minimum of 12 months of education in the field).
Please complete CICD’s inquiry form. A pre-screening will be organized by our Japanese partner. Once you are selected, a portfolio or videos of your culinary skills will be requested to show potential host companies in Japan.
