This long-term internship program is designed for students who are completing (or have completed) hospitality studies and have relevant hospitality experience. Participants will be offered 6-, 9-, or 12-month internship positions with reputable Australian businesses and can expect to receive training within their field of study. Positions are available in food production (savory culinary arts – no baking or pastry positions available), food and beverage, or front office depending on experience and availability.

Internships are paid hourly positions. Interns will receive between AUD $16.00 and AUD$19.00 minimum (USD $12.00-$14.00) and can expect to work at least 30 hours per week. Positions are available within 4- and 5-star hotels, renowned restaurants, conference centers, catering companies, leading international chains, and independent or boutique establishments throughout Australia. Participants must be flexible in regard to their internship placement and location.

During the internship program, students may be housed with host families or in student residences near their internship placement. CICD’s Australian partner can help organize housing, but housing and food costs are the student’s responsibility. In some cases, meals may be offered by the internship placement while students are on-duty. In remote areas, host company placements may offer housing.

Throughout the enrollment process and internship program, participants will receive support from a CICD coordinator and CICD’s Australian partner. CICD can provide visa assistance, however the associated visa costs are the participant’s responsibility. Upon arrival in Australia, participants will be offered an orientation session. They will also be invited to monthly intern social gatherings in Brisbane and Sydney during their programs and be issued a Certificate of Completion after successfully completing their programs.

Program Cost: The total cost for this 3-month Paid Culinary or Hospitality Internship Program in Argentina starts at $1,415.00 for Spanish speakers and $2,865.00 for non-Spanish speakers. The total cost of a 6-month Paid Culinary or Hospitality Internship Program in Argentina starts at $2,190.00 for Spanish speakers and $3,645.00 for non-Spanish speakers. Non-Spanish speakers are required to complete the intensive Spanish language course at the beginning of the program. Students may only forgo the course if they are upper intermediate level Spanish speakers. Please contact CICD for more information.

Program Eligibility

  • Age 18-30
  • Minimum 2 years of tertiary education in hospitality
  • Minimum 6 months full-time work experience in selected department
  • Be currently enrolled in a tertiary course, or
  • Be a recent graduate within 24 months of degree completion
  • Upper intermediate to advanced English language skills
