  Available J-1 Training/Internship Position - Law Intern

Start Date:October 2010
Hours:40 hours/week
Compensation:unpaid
Location:Dallas, TX
Duration:3 months

Summary:
This company is a small law firm and the honorary consulate for Germany. The company prides itself in being personable, having an open door policy, and integrating their interns also into the social life by including them in activities outside of work. This is a great opportunity for a beginning law student or law trainee to experience the American legal system. Interns will be able to visit U.S. courts and observe a trial as well as attend various seminars at the American Bar Association. The intern will be provided with a fully furnished two-bedroom apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, TV, internet access and a computer, pool outside, water and electricity included, for $500/month.

Internship Duties and Activities:
  • The intern will receive an introduction to law firm history, policies, procedures, as well as administrative/managerial aspects of day-to-day operations.
  • The intern will assist with translation of legal documents, American legal administration and case and trial preparation.
  • The intern will train on client-related, analytical and administrative tasks.
  • The intern will attend depositions and trials, review and prepare legal forms, consulate activities, case studies and introduction to various legal research methods.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Student in the field of: Legal Studies
  • Basic understanding of law.
  • Required Language Skills: English
