  Available J-1 Trainee/ Internship Position - U.S. Legal Practices

Location: Encino, CA (near Los Angeles), USA
Training Duration: 3-4 months


Summary:
This small law firm focuses primarily on US Immigration Law and VISA Application Processing. This firm has been practicing for nearly 22 years and handles a wide array of cases that include family-based visas, employment-based visas, federal court appeals, and administrative court cases including cancellation of removal and political asylum.


Training/Internship Objectives:
  • The trainee/intern will primarily be exposed to American legal research that will be overseen and reviewed by the supervisor.
  • Trainee/intern will learn how to use LEXUS-NEXUS research tools to seek precedents that may either support or be against a particular position
  • In addition, in regards to asylum matters, the trainee/intern will be exposed to obtaining supporting materials from a wide range of sources supporting a position that a client may have. This will include learning how to research for particular newspaper articles, different country reports including U.S. State Department sources, and Amnesty International materials.
  • In the final aspect to the training, the individual will be exposed to the area of legal marketing which will include assisting in enhancing web site development so as to provide better information to those reviewing the site.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Pursuing or have obtained a degree in Law/Legal Studies
  • Additional foreign language skills helpful (specifically Spanish)
  • Fluency in English
